Prompt orthopaedic initial appointment in Freiburg

For self-pay patients · by appointment

Do you have new musculoskeletal symptoms or a sports injury and want a prompt medical assessment of what to do next? The focus is on a careful medical examination, clinical assessment of your symptoms and discussion of the appropriate next steps.

For a typical examination scope, approximately €60
Fees are charged under the German Medical Fee Schedule (GOÄ) according to the services actually provided.

First, clarify what may be causing the problem

Not every symptom requires an MRI, injection or other advanced treatment straight away. Often the most important first step is a sound medical assessment: What might be causing the symptoms? What can you safely continue to do? Which diagnostic tests are useful – and which are not initially required?

This prompt initial appointment is designed to provide exactly this orientation. The next steps are based on your individual findings.

What to expect at your appointment

1. Personal consultation

You describe your symptoms, how they developed, previous examinations and what currently limits you in everyday life or sport.

2. Targeted examination

I examine the affected area as an orthopaedic specialist and interpret any existing findings or imaging in the clinical context.

3. Next steps

We discuss what is medically appropriate – for example load modification, physiotherapy, imaging or further treatment.

Which symptoms is the initial appointment suitable for?

For complex questions or if extensive previous findings are already available, we can clarify in advance which appointment format is most appropriate.

Costs and billing

For a typical initial consultation and clinical examination, the cost is usually around €60.

The specific fee is calculated according to the German Medical Fee Schedule (GOÄ) and the medical services actually provided. The final amount may therefore vary depending on the examination required.

Additional diagnostic tests or treatments may incur further costs and, where foreseeable, will be discussed with you in advance.

How to prepare for your appointment

If available, please bring relevant medical reports, X-ray, MRI or CT findings and an up-to-date medication list. It is also helpful to note when your symptoms occur, what makes them better or worse and what you would like to be able to do again.

The appointment is provided by prior arrangement. Walk-in attendance is not available for this service.

Medical emergencies

This appointment service does not replace emergency care. For serious acute injuries, significant neurological deficits, chest pain, shortness of breath or other medical emergencies, please seek appropriate emergency care immediately or call the emergency services on 112.
