Sports medicine in Freiburg – from recreational to elite sport

Sports medicine supports you with questions about exercise, training and physical capacity. At my private practice in Freiburg, the focus is on orthopaedic assessment, personal advice and prevention, from recreational to competitive sport.

Assessment and personal advice

We discuss your sport, training routine and goals. The appropriate assessment depends on your medical history and your questions. Details of the appointment are available on our sports medicine examination page.

How I assess your symptoms

In addition to the affected structure, we consider when and under what load the symptoms occur. Clinical tests, movement and muscle function, and existing findings are assessed together. When appropriate, ultrasound of joints, muscles or tendons can complement the examination directly. Load-related lower-leg pain may require specialised diagnostic testing.

Prevention and training advice

We consider your training load, recovery and individual circumstances together. For an injury or persistent overuse symptoms, our sports injuries page explains assessment, treatment and the return to sport.

Experience in sports medicine

I accompany the German national rowing team as a doctor at training camps and competitions. From 2004 to 2013, I looked after SC Freiburg’s professional football team. I also draw on this experience when assessing people who want to become more active again in everyday life or recreational sport.

Appointment at Dr Aust’s practice

You can book a consultation online or call 0761 382200 . Please bring any existing medical reports and imaging results. A short note can also help: Which movements bring on your symptoms, how long have they been present and what have you already tried?

Under lower leg pain while running you will find more information about assessment. We arrange appointments for Compartment pressure testing by telephone only. Online booking reserves a consultation, not a pressure testing appointment.
